Healthy Eating

The Healthy Eating through Football Initiative ©

The Healthy Eating Through Football Initiative © was developed in 2007 and has been delivered in over 100 Primary Schools across Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

After seeing ‘The Numeracy through Football Initiative ©’ become extremely popular, we then started to discuss other possible ideas as to how else football and education could be linked.

Healthy Eating was something that we have wanted to Promote for some time.

By delivering this initiative in in many Primary School, we aim to help children understand just how important a ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ is, by encouraging exercise and a healthy diet.

After many months of planning, the initiative was successfully completed towards the end of 2007, and launched in January 2008.

Key Stage 2

What does it consist of?

The Healthy Eating Initiative programme was produced in a 13-page, colour, A4 booklet.

The booklet had 3 extremely Fun and promotional tasks, plus a fantastic ‘Game’ in the middle of the Booklet that Children (and staff) thought was “Superb”.

We cover areas such as Calories, Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats in various foods, looking at data in a table, footballers training day and Match Day Menus and much, much more.

In January 2008, The initiative was aimed for children of all abilities in Key Stage 2.

From January 2011, the Initiative will now be a 15-page, colour, A4 booklet, which has now been developed for Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2) as well as Key Stage 2
